What happens if you change the length of time of the alert display?

'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'General' tab when new messages arrive.....click on 'Customise..' button 'show new mail alert for xx seconds.' Reduce the number of seconds click on OK

click on OK

Do you not think that the failure to update a taskbar/notification area/systray element might be a Windows bug? It clearly "knows" the right status, so has been told by Thunderbird, but hasn't got around to updating the display.

I find that Windows, when I do have to use it, is quite poor at keeping the user informed on status and progress.

I frequently find that notifications from other programs misbehave in just the same way. They don't update until "touched" by hovering.

I can't understand this problem yet. because sometimes clicking this "STILL ALIVE" icon after reading all arrived mails, display "incoming mail to ***@****" <-here my country language(not ENG). so I probably think THUNDERBIRD occurs this problem..

umm
