moving multiple emails to a folder keeps scrolling the folder window down to the bottom

I'm currently in v108.0b2 (32-bit) but it's been hapening for a few updates now. For some reason when i select and/or move multiple emails into another folder the folder window scrolls down to the bottom every time. So srolling up to sort emails into their folders pops the view back to the bottom and i have to re-scroll back up to sort more emails. I have to make sure those emails are selected too because just selecting more than 1 causes the folder view to pop back down again. It's never happened before just since the last 2 updates.

I would like to do some alterations to my email accounts that are configured. From my searching, it is suggested that all the email account configuration is in the prefs.js file in my TB profile.

It is really as simple as saving that file in case I screw up the accounts and then simply restoring it? That's what it seems, I just don't want to find out the hard way that I assumed facts not in evidence!

Hello, Thunderbird now crashes every time it connects to check for new email. The program locks up, I get the spinning beach ball, and I have to force quit to close it. Letting it sit for an extended time has no impact.

If I start Thunderbird without an internet connection it behaves normally. Once it reconnects to the internet and attempts to download email, it locks up.

If I start in Troubleshoot Mode with add-ons and extensions disabled, it works normally. No problems at all. I don't appear to have any add-ons or extensions running, so I don't understand why this is fixing things.

I had read a previous post about disabling access to Contacts in System Preferences, I tried that, no luck.

What can I do to try to fix this>

Even after I have read all new emails in each account I must click on each INBOX icon to get that "unread" number to go away. I have had this for a long time. I have seen instructions on how to fix this problem, regarding deleting global-messages-db.sqlite, panacea.dat, session.json, xulstore.json and various msf files but it has not solved the problem of emails not appearing in local folders. After going through the process, the problem at first appeared to be fixed, but the emails were in jumbled chronological order: they were correct when set to oldest first, but not when set to most recent first. I then created a new sub-folder, copied emails, one at a time, from the old folder and deleted the old folder. This suffered from the same problem and when I looked at another folder and came back to the new one, the emails moved there today has disappeared again. Do you have any other solutions?

Each morning when I wake up my Mac(I do not turn it off and just have a hot corner set up to put Mac to sleep as, I have done for many years) this new 102.3.1 will not connect with server to download messages. You have to quit App and open it again for it to work. It has only started doing this after updating to 102.3.1

I have seen this question already asked on here, but no answers of any use thus far.

Another issue is that Accounts has been removed from Tools. Why oh why do Thunderbird keep messing about unnecessarily with features for no good reason? There is far too much messing about and people do not have that time to trawl through reams of typed information to continue using an App that used to work properly. In the release notes it says, "Account settings moved to macOS application menu". What does this mean? It was fine where it was under "Tools" .

Companies seem to forget that people use many different applications on many platforms and are not just having to deal with one outfit that likes to overcomplicate things on a regular basis. Settings need simplifying by companies and not overindulgence by designers/software writers.

On Mac OS 13 (Ventura), Thunderbird lists Mac OS X Address Book but it is empty. On Mac OS 12 (Monterey), Thunderbird can see (under the same entry) all my contacts (iCloud and on my Mac).

On Monterey: Mac OS System Setting: Security & Privacy > Contacts has Thunderbird as item that can receive permission to read the Contacts on the system. On Ventura: Thunderbird is no longer listed on Ventura in the same entry.

I have re-installed Thunderbird after upgrading to Ventura. But that has not helped.

Hi all - downloaded Thunderbird on a new laptop a month ago (specs fairly similar to the Dell Inspiron). Initially messages worked just fine - popups, sounds, the works - but after I added my Gmail a few days after install, every message in my default account is automatically marked as read no matter what settings I tweak. I even added the Mailbox Alert extension hoping it would override the automatic marking as read for the default account, but no luck.

The gmail works just fine - regular sounds and popups for new emails. My default account is a custom domain, but it's a standard IMAP server just like the gmail, so no POP3 shenanigans going on there.

My current Thunderbird version is 102.5.0 64bit, but the problem has been present since 102.4.0 64bit, on W10 Pro.

Ahead of time, I am not using Bitdefender.

I have multiple email accounts in my Thunderbird, and 2 of them have S/MIME certificates. The digital signing of emails by default is enabled in both accounts. The certificates are valid and not expired. Today I had sent a signed email (not encrypted) from one of these two accounts to the other one, and I noticed that the S/MIME icon in the received email has a red exclamation mark. When I click on it, the message box says "Digital Signature Is Not Valid". I did several tests and found, that this only happens when the email contains non-ASCII characters and the encoding changes from "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit" to "Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable".

The easiest way to reproduce is: Send an digitally signed, but not encrypted email from an email account with S/MIME certificate to any other email account. The subject is empty, the email body contains only one single character: "ä". (German Umlaut, a with 2 dots above it). You may also use other characters like "ö, ü, ß, €".

The wrong signature in the received email is noticed not only by Thunderbird, but also by other email software (e.g. Android FairEmail), which means the failure happens during creation of the email in Thunderbird and it's not a decoding problem of Thunderbird.

I also managed somehow to send emails with text that contains these characters and has "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit"; however, these emails are signed correctly.

Please tell me whether I should open a bug report in bugzilla.mozilla.org; I assume that Product="MailNews Core" and Comp="Security: S/MIME" would be the right parameters.

Here's the source of one of the faulty emails (subject="Test", body="ß"). Since the email contains only the public key, it should be no problem to reveal it.

Hi, I needed to clean up my Inbox as there were a few corrupted emails there which couldn't be deleted and prevented the Compacting process. Firstly I created a new temporary folder and moved (dragged) all the good emails to this folder. I then ran a Repair Folder on the Inbox and all the corrupted emails disappeared - all good so far. I then attempted to move all the emails from the temporary folder back into the Inbox folder - this removed all the emails from the temporary folder but nothing appeared in the Inbox. I checked all my other folders and the emails are nowhere to be found. Please advise how I can get all my missing emails back. Thank you

I have downloaded the Portableapps version of Thunderbird and it has worked for me over the years for running Thunderbird from an external HDD. Recently there was an USB connectivity issue and the volume was dismounted unclean. Now when I start ThunderbirdPortable.exe, TB can't find my profile anymore. Luckily, I see the profile folder is still there and there are backups of my emails, but how can I make ThunderbirdPortable recognize my profile again?

I checked the outgoing server settings to make sure they are correct. I also googled for articles to do troubleshooting. I appreciate any advice and help! Thank you!

unable to send emails from hotmail accounts for last couple of weeks. ver 102.5.0

for the last couple of weeks (probably since the last update) I have been unable to send emails from any of my hotmail accounts. My gmail accounts and those on my own dom… (lees meer)

for the last couple of weeks (probably since the last update) I have been unable to send emails from any of my hotmail accounts. My gmail accounts and those on my own domain seen unaffected. there is no error message, it just gets stuck on the blue bar saying "sending email" and I have to cancel eventually. I have tried changing the server between the office.365 one and the outlook one, but makes no difference. I know its TB as they work fine on my phone. there have been no other changes besides updating TB that I know of.
