TB opens, but whenever I look at messages, to open or delete, I get a "not responding" message. I can open help, and other the toolbars, but nothing else

I've tried removing and reinstalling TB no no avail. Even though I disabled all add-ons and extensions and reset defaults, every time I try to open or delete a message, the "not responding" message shows up.
