I am a long time Thunderbird user and have not seen it slow down this much. I try to check mail and it takes an inordinate amount of time. Then, when I think it has received the new mails, I click on one and that takes a long time to display the message. If I send a message, putting the sent mail to the sent mail box is a long wait, it may even fail although I could see it on Gmail in the Web browser. If I switch to a new folder, I see the message on the status bar telling me sending login information, and the wait continues. Why does it send the login credentials if it is not closed only to look in a different folder?

I am using version 115.5.1 on a gigabit connection. This happens on my laptop, MS Surface Studio Laptop, and my desktop computer with more power. The laptop uses WiFi and the desktop is cabled Gigabit Ethernet.

It is pushing me to look into alternative e-mail clients, I hope I can remain with TB.

I deleted a tag and then added a new one (Settings/Tags/New...). It ended up inserting the new tag in the position of the deleted tag (ie. the new tag shows up in place 4, where the deleted tag was, don't know if that's relevant).

The new tag does not work. Whenever I use that tag it shows up and then disappears. Any ideas how I can fix this? Would deleting all the tags and starting again help or make things worse? I've seen similar threads here but they've been archived so I'm starting a new one.

Basically, each account is receiving every email, but these accounts are for separate purposes. I need to know if this is something that I have done or is it the result of the upgrade to 115? The issue described has only been occurring for a week or so and may have started after I added Thunderbird to a new PC. All three home computers are behaving the same way and I'm using IMAP.

I upgraded to 115.3.1 from 102.15.1 this week. I do not understand the large increase in version number, but I have not done any searches. I have a number of complains with this new version.

1) I want to move one message to a Local Folder, and I get the message at the bottom "nn messages moved from Inbox to Tr.ash". The one message I wanted to move remains in the Inbox, and I have to move it again. When I try to move them again, the folder displayed is NOT the one into which I had just tried to save. I have no idea if any messages were moved from Inbox to Trash, and I have no idea how I would find them.

2) The font size in the window is smaller than it was with 102, and there is blank space on the right. Is there a way to increase the font size?

3) I read one mail message and I process it (delete it or save it in a Local Folder). Most of the time, the next message in the Inbox is opened. But sometimes the window advances to a message further down in the Inbox, and I then have to go back into the Inbox to access then next message I was planning on reading.

HI

I use Thunderbird on 2 platforms: PC and MAC.

Both are updated to the latest version.

The MAc version have an annoying problem:

It autocorrect almost all words in a crazy manner: 1. It capitalise letters middle of the sentence. 2. It doubles letters 3. It adds space between the first letter of an word and the next word it glue it to the previous word.

I am placing here an example: WE Aare P artof EU

instead of

We are part of EU.

This happens only in Thunderbird so it is not a platform problem. I unchecked the autospelling and autocorrect but this behaviour still happen. Only on MAC. In the same time on PC platform I don't have this problem.

What can be done?

After the last couple of Thunderbird updates, I have been experiencing a really frustrating issue that I can't seem to resolve.

Only when I receive emails from one specific recipient and I go to reply to them, the font size is suddenly really large, and the spacing between new lines is huge.

Even if I set the font options to the same as if I was replying to a different recipient or creating a new message, it still appears really large.

What's worse is even if I make all these adjustments and get the font size and formatting looking okay, the actual sent message is even more out of whack and has all these spacing problems.

Does anyone know what might be going on? No other mail client I use experiences this issue whatsoever, and this issue is only occuring with this recipient.

All my emails come to an Inbox in Thunderbird. When I choose one to move to a separate folder to keep, the inbox contents flips to some point that I don't require, and I then have to scroll through to the point where I took the email I was storing again, often hard to determine. It is random , and if the email I want to shift is on the current day, it seems to behave, but when I choose to move one from a few days ago, it is hopeless. It is time consuming, and annoying, and I can't see the point of it. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it please? It usually flips back to a point earlier than the date I am working on. Weird, and has only done this since one of your last updates, and always stable in the past....For a new addition to the program it is so inefficient. Thank you

Hi, please help, we have an O365 mail account and in Thunderbird we have POP3 protocol set up, authentication via OAuth, one email address is used on multiple PCs. The account is set up so that messages stay on the server and individual users have the same emails and everyone deletes what they need. The problem is that still, after a while, a window pops up for login, authentication to O365, even if we put the login credentials in memory, this is very annoying and annoying :( Sometimes it also happens that the account completely logs out and no message pops up. O365 are set up as recommended from this site. Thank you all very much for any advice.

Dear all, I am Thunderbird user for almost a few decades now. Since upgrade several weeks ago, my Thunderbird became slower, and, also started to work not as before. Now it is, after few minor updates up today, 115.5.0 (32-bit) version. The main issue, beside slower speed in showing messages, is it does not mark some messages as read when selected. When I scroll selecting unread messages to read/show them, some of them are marked read as before it did, but some of them stay unmarked in spite of multiple times selecting them and holding them selected. This happens regardless of setting “Automatically mark message as read” options Immediately on display, or After displaying for 1 second. In most cases it happens with last received unread message. Last time I remember such erratic behavior was decades ago. I tried to switch off and back on that option, then restarting program, but nothing changes in it’s behavior. Please advise. Thanks in advance, Zoran

Hello, After update Thunderbird quick filter became very very slow.

If you type in quick filter field two words. At the beginning is being shown random results not connected with typed in words. Then in 30 seconds or later are being loaded correct results. Not possible to use like this. It's local search on normal PC (with CPU AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G, 24GB RAM) filtering must to work fast. Could you fix that issue?

115.4.2 macOS 13.6.1

My Unified Inbox has about 1,200 messages. The window shows a message list at top, with six, or ten, or more, or fewer) messages and the selected message below.

When a mailbox or folder is displayed, with items in the message list off the screen both above and below, and a message is selected, the message list shifts down (a few earlier messages are displayed) and the selected message line is hidden (that message is now two or more below the bottom of the message list box.)

Sure, most of the data is displayed with the message. But not the Status and the little columns like thread, star, sort, spam. (Paper clip is also not shown, but--happily--the Attachment field is shown below the message header and body. And the Tags are shown in the header area.)

The immediate context of the message in the message list is hidden.

(I trust no image is needed. If so, that will save me having to black out the data. That's a requirement of my job. If an image is needed, I will make one.)

Since the UI upgrade, my Thunderbird client has become slow on my PC. On opening instead of what was previously a quick start-up to my INBOX, it now hangs and you can see (from bottom left) its polling out to email servers and waiting for a response .... much slower than previously.

It's not a server response as I use same email on my iPad and that logs in with almost zero delay.

Occasionally also lags behind key board, you are typing and you are several characters or even words in front of the client.

Is there any rebuild or similar I should do now I am on the 'new look'

TB115 the [Gmail] folder has vanished. The subfolders it had in it are still there. Using another email client on iPad and Android show everything correctly. TB when clicking on menus shows it when looking at folder lists. However in the folder display on the left pane of the display it is not there. For some reason there are two Draffts follders but that may not be connected with this.

I have seen an article suggesting moving the panacea.dat and global-messages-db.sqlite files from the profile directory to a different directory on the hard drive. However there does not seem to be a panacea.dat file.

Any ideas or suggestions of how to restore things to normal. there are a number of email accounts in my profile, because I am a very longterm user of TB. Backing up the profile does take about 3 hours, so I am very cautious about what I try and careful to have a way back if needed.

Great product and thanks for any help.

1) I was using Thundebird 115.5.0 (64-bit) for reading emails on an Office365 IMAP server (on Mac OS Sonoma 14.1.1).

2) I have reorganized all the folders on the server, deleted some of them, etc. using Outlook on the web.

3) After reorganizing folders and messages, I tried to sync Thundebird, unsuccessfully. Thunderbird kept "seeing" old, deleted folders, that are no longer on the server. The K-9 Android email client had no problem in detecting the new structure: K-9 lists only existing folders and none of those that have been deleted.

4) I uninstalled Thunderbird, removed all the profiles and reinstalled Thunderbird. I get this: - all of the current folders are in grey and italic. They appear to be empty. - When I try and subscribe (after refreshing) the folders, I get a list of old folders, that do not exist any more. I deleted both the .app and the files in the Library, including the profiles.

Is there anyone who knows what's happening with Thunderbird?
