These are the little pictures which appear as other people's profile pictures on your wall when you first pull up your page on Facebook. All other pix are viewable on that page and other pages.

It is possible that you clicked "Block Images" in the right click context menu while trying to save an image. See Settings for web content, pop-ups, fonts, and languages

  • A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (Site Identification icon) on the left side of the location bar.
  • A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
  • Open the Media tab of the "Page Info" window.
  • Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

I had this problem, profile picture were simply not there - there was no indication that there should even be a picture.

I then looked under "Tools->Options, selected the "Content tab" and then "Exceptions" next to "Load images automatically" (which should be ticked).

In the resultant dialog I noticed that "profile.ak.fbcdn.net" had been added to the site list, and vaguely remember a time when spam messages from unknown contacts with inappropriate pictures were sent to my facebook account. At that time I had blocked these pictures from automatically loading by right-clicking on the picture and selecting "Block images from...".

To fix the problem I selected the site in the dialog window and then selected "Remove Site" and closed the dialog boxes.

Now profile pictures are correctly loaded.
