Why when I have to go to another app to check my email, when I come back you reload to a different page and I lose the spot I'm supposed to fill.

I go to a website and it tells me that it has emailed me a code. I have to go to another app to bring up my email to get the code. When I go back to Firefox using the recent apps feature, on my phone, Firefox reloads to the previous page and I have to start all over again because you've gotten rid of the page I was on, to put the code in. It's an endless cycle. Since I'm not actually closing Firefox why can't it open onto the page I was just on?
