Setting Up Thunderbird for AT&T Email I've used Thunderbird as my email client for years; however, about a month ago it stopped working and now I receive the following message, "Sending of password for user [email scrubbed] did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later". What do I need to do to get things working again in Thunderbird?

ATT requires, and has required for years, the use of a mailkey instead of your password. That error is what you get when you do not do this.

I suggest you generate a new one on the ATT web site and try it instead of your password.

many thanks matt, got it fixed.

I tried the mailkey and it worked! My actual password got me into the webmail version, (and all the clutter of Yahoo), so it was frustrating when the same password did not work in Thunderbird. NOTE: I recently changed my internet provider from ATT to CitySide fiber and was concerned that ATT closed my email account. WHEW! Maybe the change had something to do with the hiccup. It's time for me to quit being a freeloader and contribute to Thunderbird! Thanks!
