Tabs not completely shifted over to the left.

Hello Good People,

I installed Firefox a few days ago and it was looking good. I don't like that icon in the top-left hand so I right clicked it and removed it. All was good. However, today there is a blank black space in the corner as if the icon was back (but without an actual icon). It's only a small thing but it bugs me. I want the tabs to be shifted all the way over to the left like they have been up to today. It's triggering my OCD. Anyway, any advice appreciated.

Best Wishes

Hi Matt, I run Windows, but Linux may be similar in this respect:

  • In a maximized window, the left end of the tab bar either has the first tab or, if the tab bar has overflowed with tabs, a button to scroll the tabs along the bar. If you click in the blank space, does it scroll the tabs?
  • In a resizable windows, there is a wide "drag space" to the left of the first tab (or left scroll button). This area is inert and just used for moving the window without activating anything else. If I double-click it, Windows maximizes the window.

Hello Kind Sir,

I feel kind of stupid admitting this. I just had to maximise the window to put it right. It looked maximised but wasn't. Your post helped me figure that out so thank oyu ery much for taking the time to offer your assistance.

Best Wishes

Matt

No worries, I'm glad it was a simple fix.

Thing is, it won't stay maximised. It did up until today but I have to maximise it each time I open it now for some reason. Any ideas about that?

I have Firefox set to restore my previous session, so I don't know how it works when you are just starting it up to the home page. My thought is that it should match the state from when you last closed it, but maybe not. Hopefully someone else knows about that part.
