I've been through a rough patch with Firefox the past couple of weeks.

Cutting to the chase: I exported all my bookmarks and imported them in a new profile.

But the icons that used to be there aren't.

Not *end of the world*, but just something I noticed.

(I just about shot myself in the foot) Ok, after using one to open a tab and the icon returned. So is that how they get their icons?

You could have copied (and still can) the files containing the bookmarks and favicons. The files are places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite.

I am probably missing something, but what you said didn't work.

When I add this to the new profile: do I put it in the ROOT directory or the LOCAL one? Or as I see them the main and the cache.

They don't go in the cache. Put them in the same place as they are in the old profile.

Ok, strange.

I did that and have since shut down and powered up the machine.

No icons. Other than the site I visited the other day.

Unless I copied them from the wrong old profile...... Would that be a problem? (Sorry it is just I have a few profiles just now and it is hard to keep track of which is which.)

Just a suggestion, look at the dates of the places and favicons files in each profile. You probably want the oldest if you have been creating new profiles recently because of other problems.

Again, thanks.

Just to be sure I copied the two files from an old (backed up) profile and put them in the current one.

No joy.

Ah, not the end of the world - as I've said.

I must be going senile.

I'm looking at those links, have done what I believe to be what is needed and it isn't.

This is not anywhere near as bad as all my logins not being kept between use. (Good) The missing icons in the bookmarks seem to be something I am not understanding.

I'll try again at some stage to copy the two files from the older profile to the new one and hope. This happening when firefox is NOT active.

But I'm sure that is what I did the previous time.

But I am known to be wrong.

The favicions will reappear over time as you visit those websites again.
