4/3/2022 I have compared both 202111105-1529/Mail/Local Folders. One from from Para. 2 and the other from Para. 3. They are identical in their contents size and numbers. So what do we accomplish. Why not just delete the one in Para 2.

I am finding this hard to comprehend. I must make room for the Profiles in Para 3 (/home/donald/Documents). And then copy and paste from the directory Profiles Para 2 the one you have in bold type. Into Para 3. Is this correct?

I have spent all morning trying to do as you asked. I removed the /home/donald/Documents/Email backup/ all after Email backup. Profiles/mint Thunderbird/xqxfvqzc.default-20211105-1529/Mail/Local Folder. I then went to Email-Help-Profile Directory /home/donald/.thunderbird/xqxfvqzc.default-release/Mail/Profiles/Mint Thunderbird/nt3r4ma0.default-20211105-1529/Mail/Local Folders. It will not be a part of or attached to home/donald/Documents/Email backup /home/donald/.thunderbird/xqxfvqzc.default-release/Mail/Profiles/Mint Thunderbird/nt3r4ma0.default-20211105-1529/Mail/Local Folders. I can paste it to the command line but it will only accept not adding to home/donald/Documents. And then what do I do with it. Save it yes but how to save it. I have created a number of folders named them and tried to copy and paste the /home/donald/.thunderbird into them. Now have this copied /home/donald/.thunderbird/xqxfvqzc.default on a page of LibreOffice Writer.

Just some useless info. That home/donald/Email backup as found in Documents was done at the time of the Installation of Mint Mate 20.2. And in Thunderbird, Help More Trouble shooting Information, Profile Directory, Open Directory /home/donald/.thunderbird/xqxfvqzc.default-release/Mail/Profiles/Mint Thunderbird/nt3r4maO.default-20211105/Mail/Local Folders was also created at the time of the installation of Mint Mate 20.2

My use of Thunderbird goes back to 2012. And the last version update was 60.6.1, I found one that was in the fifties Is it time to get those Engineers who are the ones who designed this version of Thunderbird.

I repeat - No. Leave that backup alone.

This sits above a large body of Files one of which is Email Backup. I can’t drag and drop or copy and Paste the above into the Backup Email File. Just sits there. If I open Email Backup there is another Backup Folder it doesn’t accept the above either.

Thunderbird is off which leaves just the above copy and pasted from the Profile Directory to the command line in Desk Top.

This had completely slipped my mind. Until I was searching around on my Lap Top. And Selected Account Settings. Thunderbird 60

Account Settings Thunderbird Server Settings Server Type IMAP Mail Server Server Name imap.zoho.com Port: 993 Default 993

When in Profile Directory, Open Directory IMAP selections are there but never have been selected such as

/home/donald/.thunderbird/xqxfvqzc.default-release/ImapMail/imap.zoho.com Nothing after this point.

Now does this affect what we have been doing and affect what we will been doing in the future? The files displayed are not the ones we have been looking for.

Make sure Thunderbird is not running. then copy the 'Profiles' folder and paste it into the 'Documents' folder. So it looks like: /home/donald/Documents/Profiles

It is a backup, but I do not want you to overwrite the folders that are currently in the /home/donald/Documents/'Email backup' folder - all along I have been saying to leave that alone. It already has a 'Profiles' folder for a different backup - so no I do not want you to put the copy into 'Email backup'. Put it in /home/donald/'Documents' folder.

Once you copy pasted the 'Profiles' folder into 'Documents' you have a backup, so... It means you can access the 'Mail' folder and delete the 'Profiles' folder in this location. /home/donald/.thunderbird/xqxfvqzc.default-release/Mail folder. Delete the folder called 'Profiles'.

Start Thunderbird Tell me what happens. Do you see any mail accounts in the Folder Pane? Do you see any folder and emails in the 'Local Folders' mail account?

I did not delete my my Back Up. I am assuming you still be leave that there is an entry in Documents Back Up. When you move/copy the 'Profiles' folder, it automatically moves/copies everything it contains. You can move that 'Profiles' folder to the desktop if it is easier. I just need to know where you put it.

Neither made a difference. It would not allow it to be Pasted. Paste was Grayed out. Not Available. The only location that it would allow the above to be Pasted was the Go To and changes when I Paste the above into it, it became Location. I have we run out of options? Do I need to give up and realize that those Email files will remain but not use able.

I have found something that just may solve our problem.

Entire Donald’s Home and we have the desk top and in the upper right corner there are File, Edit View, Go, Book Marks and Help.

Last evening I was shutting down my system and was nosing around search for what I know not what. Started with File, then Edit, and the last View and there is Hidden Files. There is .thunderbird, most of which I do not understand except for.

xqxfvqzc default release, I click on it and now we have Mail, I click on it and now we have Local Folders and Profiles, click on Local Folders and we have those Emails that were sent or kept after the installation of Mint Mate 20.2, I don’t think we want that.

So now I select Profiles, next I select Mint Thunderbird and now we have nt3r4maO.default-20211105-1529, I click on it and now we have Mail, I click on it and now we have Local Folders, I click on Local Folders and all those Emails that were sent or received before the installation of Mint Mate 20.2 appear.

So now we have in Email back up .thunderbird/Profiles/Mint Thunderbird/nt3r4maO.default-20211105-1529/Mail/Local Folders Which contains all of those Emails sent and received before the installation of Mint Mate 20.2

This is now installed in Email Back Up I hope it stays there. Time to reboot. Well it takes some fiddling. But when I select Email Back up and then go to View, Select Hidden Files .thunderbird appears click on it and Profiles appear, click on it Mint Thunderbird appears and then/nt3r4maO.default and so on. I guess I could say it is in Email Back up.

As I click on each item it goes to the next. And when done it all appears in the the Location Heading. Where we go from there I don’t know.

We have establised that a long time ago. That is your working thunderbird profile location. Same as this: /home/donald/.thunderbird/xqxfvqzc.default-release/Mail/Profiles/Mint Thunderbird/nt3r4ma0.default-20211105-1529/Mail/Local Folders

I asked you to move the 'Profiles' folder and put it in the 'Documents' folder. I also suggested you put it on the Desktop. But it seems you have just moved it up the directory.

This was the original backup:

This is your current thunderbird profile folder.

Now you say you have :

Which sounds like you have moved the 'Profiles' folder up the directory into the .thunderbird folder. But it is not a backup .

As it seems you have managed to move the 'Profiles' folder into the .thunderbird folder. Lets try this - move the folder called 'nt3r4maO.default-20211105-1529' into the .thunderbird folder. Then rename the folder called 'nt3r4maO.default-20211105-1529' to say 'nt3r4maO.default-release' you just need to edit the latter part.

Then at least we would have both of the 'profile name' folders in the correct location.
