Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars {web link}
Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar.
Note: about:customizing is no longer present in Firefox 47+ releases.
- Press Alt or F10 to bring up the Menu Bar.Then View > Toolbars > Customize.
- Right-click on a blank spot in the toolbar and select Customize.
In the new window, look for the icon. When you find it, hold down the left button on it, and move it to where you want it to be. You can move any of the icons you want from here, but; some icons are locked in place.
There is also a Restore Defaults button at the bottom right.
Firefox auto-hides the Downloads button on the Navigation Toolbar by default. The Download button should appear on the Navigation Toolbar once you open the Customize window. If you do not see the Download icon then click the Restore Defaults button to reset the layout in case you previously have moved this button. Once you see the Download button in customize mode then left-click this button to see the current auto-hide state and toggle its setting.
Nothing happen after pressing the F10 or Alt button.
By the way, on what screen to press the F10 button?
regards n Thanks Kwan Guan
Are you able to open the customize page via the right-click context menu on free space on the Navigation Toolbar or via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list (More Tools -> Customize) ?
Yes. I got it. But there is no "Down Load" icon.
That Downloads button should always be visible in customize mode as the middle of the three in the screenshot.
- if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window to the toolbar
- if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette window to restore the default toolbar set.
I followed your instructions and found an icon (A down arrow) n the description read as "Display the progress of ongoing downloads", not the actual down loading. please assist. Thanks n regards
That opens the window of the Download Manager. You can also use <Control> J.
You can left-click this download icon in customize mode to inspect and modify the auto-hide status.
Sorry, please tell me how to get into "customize mode". Thanks n regards
See my reply and your reply below mine where you found the download button.
