I received the follow error message when attempting to compact my Inbox. This is the first time I have received such a message.

"The folder 'Inbox" could not be compacted because writing to the folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, the try again."

I have plenty of disk space. I do not know how to verify that I have write privileges to the file system. If I don't have write privileges, then how do I make the proper changes so that I do?

Thank you.

The factor(s) that cause this alert tend to be temporary. I wouldn't worry about it unless it because a daily thing.

It started happening earlier in the week and now happens multiple times per day.

Try making sure that your anti virus is not running a scan. One of those "Temporary" things is often the antivirus.

The program has now slowed to a crawl today as it continues to attempt to compact the inbox.

Disabled Virus scan and program runs normally, but when attempting to compact I continue to receive the error message.
