this only a small sampling. it goes on for several screens.
it happens for both email accounts in Thunderbird. several updates to TB has not changed this nor has my migration from Windows Explorer to Edge or from Windows 7 to 10.

The -- at the beginning indicates a signature is attached. Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Settings, and disable the file attached as a signature. Each account has a signature.

Have another problem... have 2 email accounts in TB. My hotmail password is not recognized automatically. Have to type it in for each login to TB. The correct password is coded correctly in settings. Norm

Reviewed the topic as suggested. "signon" line in config file is set to "True" already. Problem is still there and has been for ONLY for 1 account - HOTMAIL I am not using the master password option. Hope you can help. Tanx Norm
Did you delete the 3 files in the profile folder, restart TB, and enter the account passwords when prompted? Does your Hotmail account have two-step verification?
sfhowes, tried suggestions as above now have to enter both passwords each time I open TB. The "saved logins" page is blank and passwords are not there. What should I enter in this area? Norm
You can't add passwords to Saved Passwords except by checking the 'Remember...' box in the password prompt. If Save Passwords is still empty after doing that, it suggests there is some other app controlling passwords, or a 'cleanup' app that deletes saved passwords.
