Why does my Thunderbird display limited messages despite the selecting the preference for 'don't delete any messages'

I have no problem downloading emails but Thunderbird seems to disappear emails that are older than about 2 weeks. I have selected 'don't delete any messages' in the account settings but to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks, Lel

does your mail provider auto age mails and delete after 2 weeks perhaps?
