Hi

Yes, it will.

If you have your Private VPN (Desktop App) turned on and then toggle the Firefox Built-in VPN on:

Your Firefox traffic will be encrypted by Firefox, sent to Mozilla's servers and then encrypted again by your private VPN and sent to its servers.

Because your data is traveling through two different tunnels and being encrypted twice, your browsing speed will drop.

Many websites will confused by the "hop" between two different VPN IPs and may block you, trigger endless Captchas, or simply fail to load.

So, If your private VPN is already on, keep the Firefox built-in VPN OFF. Your private VPN is already protecting your Firefox traffic.

If your private VPN is OFF, the build-in VPN Firefox is a great "quick switch" for one more layer of privacy while browsing.

I havent been able to find the "ON-OFF" setting to make changes. Can you possibly steer me in the right direction. My Firefox settings really dont tell me a lot

thanks

Is VPN enabled in your browser? Do you see the VPN button?

The Firefox built-in VPN is offered in stages to users in the US, UK, Germany and France (starting with Firefox version 149), and in Canada starting with Firefox version 150. It may not be available to you yet, even if you’re in one of these locales, as the staged rollout takes time to reach everyone.

If the built-in VPN is available, you would see a VPN icon in the top-right corner of the toolbar, which opens a prompt to turn on the VPN. You would also need to sign in to a Mozilla account. For more information, see the Use built-in VPN in Firefox article.

If you wish, you can post your feedback about the Firefox built-in VPN to the Mozilla Connect thread.
