This will mean that over time, regardless of the software you install, security vulnerabties will not be resolved. Indeed, you may find that some software will no longer be available.

This is outside of Mozillas control and is something that you would be better addressing with Apple.

This is likely because Google no longer supports Widevine on your macOS 10.11 platform, only the currently supported Widevine versions can retrieve a valid license from the server. You likely get a specific error when you try to watch DRM protected content, you can possibly check the Web Console and about:plugins for more detail.

Every major web browser has long dropped support of the old EOL macOS 10.9, 10.10, 10.11 and recently now also 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 has been dropped also including with Firefox as of Fx 116.0 and later. Though Mozilla is still supporting the EOL macOS 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 users with Fx 115 ESR for now until Fx 115.9.0esr in Sept 2024 while other major web browsers already dropped back in Jan/Feb this year.

If you can manage to upgrade to at least macOS 10.12, 10.13, or 10.14 then you would at least be supported with Firefox 115 ESR for now.

The other small possibility is Linux depending on your hardware in which you can make it look like a macOS desktop with some work.

I would like you to make available a pristine copy of FIREFOX 115 ESR, with special instructions on how to prevent the ongoing automated constant update circus. I intend to use it on an Apple Laptop with MacOS Sierra 10.12.06 on it, for the sole purpose of watching Netflix on it.

Secondly, there are numerous third party security software brands, extensions, plug-ins that can protect FIREFOX 115 ESR browser from many web-related security issues, in addition to a general knowledge of not going into the unsafe neighborhoods of the internet, & clicking on something just because it looks familiar.

The issue is manifold: It is a waste of time, money, resources to constantly be forced by software people to give up on perfectly fine working hardware and software, merely for the purpose of "generally unproven security improvements", as well as "generally untested & insufficiently tested OS & browser improvements" that break other functions that used to work before the update. I understand that there is a self-serving purpose of keeping software people at Mozilla, Apple, MSFT, Linux, etc. employed, but I indeed have a rather extreme dislike for software people who show absolutely no concern for the person who wants to keep a working computer with working software going. If anyone politician were to use a proposition "to allow regular legal exposure to lawsuits against software companies, with specific emphasis on personal responsibility for quality, suitability, workability, the freedom to repair and modify software and hardware" as a plank in their platform, they would get my vote. (Ok, not if they were also Nutsis or right-wing extremists, or other types of fanatic freaks...)

The behavior of software company via their absolute immunity to lawsuits, due to underhanded EULAs and User agreements that no one really understands until it is too late, has long been a thorn in my side. It is as annoying as realizing that congress, senate, president, and the supreme court can be bought and bribed with impunity. Maybe you do not even understand and realize that software & tech companies enjoy unfair advantages compared to other companies. Yes, you are working for a corrupt system, and you don't see it, just like a fish is not aware of the water they are swimming in.

If that does not annoy you, you might want to get out more, read more, think about more than the compartmentalized set of problems and ideas within the narrow field of your expertise. I struggle with that myself.

But lets look at comparisons: I can get parts for my 97 Jeep even though the thing is 27 years old. (I have a newer car, but keep the old one around as a backup) If you think about it, you will realize that spare parts actually need to be sourced, manufactured, distributed and sold. Whereas, any version of software is a mere set of commands that Mozilla has stored on some server, from which it ought to be downloadable at the drop of a hat, cap, or beanie, for a small fee.

I can remake, repair, remodel a 100 year old house, a 200 year old piece of furniture, I can renew a 50 year old apartment. Can I do anything about dysfunctional software? No! Nooo! Seven times Nooo! I want to change that! Do you see why software & tech customers are angry?

You software people have it rather easy, when it comes to determining the cost and effort to keep spare parts, oops, spare software available. You could even make a little money with this, since, as I told you before, your EULA and software agreements hold you harmless from any lawsuit anyway!

You see, the fact that every software company appears to destroy, ruin, disable, disturb, make incompatible, and deprecate software to their hearts content does not really have anything to do with either "improvement of functions" or "improvement of security". The stories of software going from bad to worse to worst are legion.

Why do you think it is "??NORMAL??" to destroy something that works fine? Why? I ask because I want you to know and agree that this behavior is NOT NORMAL. It's as destructive as any war, any break-in by vandals into your home!!

If I break the windows, mirror, doors on your car, this is considered "a crime of vicious destruction of property". When you do the same to the owned, rented or leased software property on my computer, then this is supposed to be progress? NO, it is not! In my mind it ought to be treated as a crime against the rights of another. Your idea that this is different, because we merely use software under a license, with a fee to be paid annually, is a rather spurious and wimpy legal argument, and only a corrupt court, and a corrupted Supreme Court will agree with you, because they are bribed, just like lawmakers are bribed. Call it a campaign contribution as you wish, it walks, talks, stinks like a bribe, so it is a bribe.

You will only get updates to 115 ESR with security and allowed stability fixes and will not be updated to the next major ESR unless you have macOS 10.15 or later. Normally the ESR channel versions of Firefox is meant for Enterprise users in mind as they want stability.

You just did a ramble rant on a community support forum when the company Mozilla has historically supported the old EOL OS's the longest compared to the other major web browsers. Like I said other major web browsers already dropped macOS 10.12, 10.13, 10.14 since Jan/Feb 2023, yet Mozilla is still supporting them till Sept 2024 when 115.15.0esr is released.

Mozilla supported WinXP/Vista for some 26 months past (with Fx 52ESR (52.9.0esr)) when Chrome/Chromium/Opera and others dropped XP/Vista for example, yet there were some WinXP users that wanted Mozilla to somehow support it for years more.
