Do you have your bookmarks saved on another device? I'm not sure, but isn't there an option in macOS to go back in time? Let fire up my mac and see.

I tried to follow the support forums to restore them but I didn't have any luck.

Do you mean using the Restore feature in the Library window? This article is the one I'm thinking of:

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

If your security software quarantined your bookmarks or other data, perhaps there is a way to release it from quarantine. I'm not sure I've ever done that myself, so I don't know the steps you would follow.
