I have reset my homepage yet every time I open fire fox I get a pop-up "Firefox Homepage Change Notification" Your homepage has been changed by another application and I check "continue with the new homepage". Then I click "OK" and when I shut down firefox and reopen it, the message appears all over again. What can I do to stop this nonsense?

Does it mention Mindspark and a possible extension's name at the bottom of this pop-up?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

That is a warning. Something is changing your settings.

Yes it does mention "mindspark" and MapsGalaxy Toolbar. Do I need to disable these in add-ons?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
