I recently upgraded our computer from windows xp to vista business. There have been problems with certain websites and javascripts that would cause alot of lagging. I disabled javascripts using about:config but was still having problems on certain sites. I tried installing the yesscript add-on and specifically listed the problem site, but it still brought up the script error when I went to the page.

The computer is a dell dimension 4600 running windows vista business. 3G of ram.

Help appreciated.

Sometimes pages have javascripts sent along with them, and some of those scripts may come from other sites than the one serving the page. Maybe those sites which send scripts to those pages have to be blocked or have scripts disabled.

I thought that turning off scripts from "about:config" was supposed to block all scripts.

Can you start by giving us the troubleshooting information from the Firefox installation that's having problems. This is an essential step in troubleshooting.

  • Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information from the sub-menu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select Troubleshooting Information from the menu.

Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.

  • At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
  • Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

P.S. Dropped myself from thread. Someone else feel free to solve.
