I am in the midst of the long process of moving most (not all!) of my gmail from the gmail server to TBird, using filters as discussed in this thread.

I've started by first using filters on less important emails (ie so that no true disaster occurs if something goes horribly wrong). As I do so, I have questions!

For example, let's say I use a filter to: copy all the emails from @someone.org to a local folder then delete those emails (from the server)

What happens if one of those emails happens to be within a thread, including emails from people who don't match the filter (ie are not @someone.org). Have I broken the thread forever, ie, has something gone horribly wrong? If so, how do I prevent this behavior/have the entire thread move along with the targeted value? If not, I don't see how I can move email without breaking threads, which is a bit of a problem.

(Also - whoops, I see I should update, but the question remains.)

Each time I open TBird, I get a message at the bottom left of the screen telling me that TBird has deleted X number of messages. I do not want TBird to ever delete any messages. How do I turn this automatic delete function off?

I sent you a very detailed email the other day unfortunately I am not sure if you got it because I could not verify it because I think you sent me a code or something to the very Email I cant get access to.

clearly as a 68 year old man who knows nothing about modern technology things like this are not what you need I am also classed as Severely disabled with various illnesses from Diabetes and sleep apnea to Ulcerative Colitis and mental health problems.I also have CTS in both hands so trying to type this out on my phone is not ideal I am not having a go at anyone but I would have thought that with the amount of intelligent people connected to technology organisations that one of them would have thought about this type of problem and came up with a simple solution it's not rocket science if the main problem I'm having is not being able to access my email and have no other accessible other ways to confirm things to you surely a freely available freephone number from the country you live in to yourselves or if you yourselves contacted the person Directly preferably on their home phone but if not their recognised mobile number and asked them some basic security questions by firstly asking them for two step verification to their mobile (if they have one) likewise I am aware not everyone had either a home phone or a mobile (or both) because of various problems I have encountered with verification methods that are not available to me or might be but I dont know how they work then surely I cannot be the only one? under the 1998 Human Rights Acts and Protocols Article 1 Protocol 1 people like myself are meant to have protective status especially here in Britain where the 2010 Equalities Act is meant to give us added protection and certain rights all I am asking for is to speak to someone who wont talk to me using Computer Jargon and at least has some Empathy and Common Sense to help me get this Sorted I use Firefox and Mozilla because I Like what you are trying to do but if you are going to cause people like myself the exact same problems I and others like me may as well just not bother with technology because the Stress it causes me in particular is simply not worth it. I wanted a new email address so since I've been using firefox for decades. I wanted to try thunderbird. (i tried mailfence it didn't work at all) So i download thunderbird desktop. It doesn't tell me what it is. Although I've used computers for 50 years, I need explanations for new stuff. Your habit of assuming all is obvious and no explanations needed is so annoying and wastes so much time. Thunderbird says includes powerful email. Then it says email not available . go on waitlist. I put in my name. Then it talks about some pro ( thunder email?) that must be paid. None of this makes sense to me Can I or can I not get a new email? Please answer this note so my questions can be answered.

I need to keep all my linked yahoo account emails because they are limiting space and will soon delete them. so i tried to make local folders to drag and drop my folders to. but it will not create them. nothing happens. help ?

I can see that there has been a reply or a messages was forwarded and when I right click for the menu "Open" may not even appear at times. When it does appear "Open in Conversation" is not always presented as an option even though there has clearly been conversation as I can locate reply's in the Sent folder. Sometimes it's there but when selected it opens a tab that only shows the email and none of the conversations. It's hit and miss and I can find no rhyme or reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I would love to Testflight Thunderbird on Apple. Thanks, Sue

In recent update several duplicate folders were installed in three different email accounts. Point to them there was a 'delete' button enabling elimination of duplicates. However, on two accounts, 'Drafts' duplicates didn't have the delete button enabling elimination. How to clean up?

I put emails from my Inbox into the delete box. After a while I delete these but I have just found that they remail in the All Mail Box. How do I delete these emails from my acccount on Thunderbird? They do appear in my online Gmail account as far as I can see.

Storage always full with only 100 or so e mails in my in box No junk or spam or anything else No one else in the company has this problem but me and my storage is getting smaller and smaller . I do more e mails then anyone but am always full with less than 200 e mails

Hi - I created folders for important emails and placed them in there over the past few years. The folders remain but the emails have all disappeared. I'm hoping its an easy retrieval.

Had one account. Imported perfectly. Added another, only Inbox and Trash added (later Drafts when I composed a new email)

Where are all the account folders ?

I changed Google accounts from mine to my husband's so that I could find a certain email. Finished and signed back into my Google account. Shut everything and went to my Thunderbird. My entire inbox of emails for my gmail account were not there. Why would I lost those if I was not dealing with Thunderbird, but Google online?? Google online only shows those emails that I haven't downloaded to Thunderbird. Google online did not show my current gmail Thunderbird Inbox, yet it's gone from Thunderbird. I'm sick about it... prescious emails lost. Is there any way to retrieve my Inbox?

After the latest update to the program I noticed that a previous folder is missing along with its saved emails. That folder still exists along with saved messages on the ISP server. This has happened previously and then re-appeared some months later, perhaps with an application update. The rest of my folders display properly along with their saved emails.

I have a brand new windows desktop. i installed thunderbird 153.0. setup email account. can send and received emails ok. cannot get imap folders. have tried everything. i can see the imap folders on other devices, my iphone and also on another windows laptop. cannot find any folders. i installed google chrome first. is it possible that it has blocked folder display on my email.
