I am unable to complete the 2FA process; after scanning to my authenticator and backup up restore codes, and completing the final step, the procedure does not complete with the message that the time needs to be set to automatic, which it already is. I have attempted this process on two Win 11 and one Win 10 computer (all with the time configured to automatic), and also using an IPad with the latest version of IOS. All fail with the same message that the time needs to be set to automatic. Is there a solution to this issue?

Dear Generous Help Volunteers,

I'm running Firefox 128.13.0 ESR (64-bit) on Windows 11 (Lenovo desktop).

If I use a Private Window, does that mean that "Containers" are redundant/not needed? If not, please explain in depth.

If I use a Private Window, does that mean that, while I have the browser open, any temporarily saved data can be accessed by any website? If so, could I use a Container, in a Private Window, only for those sites for which I need to keep cookie(s) (i.e. bank logins, shopping carts, etc.).

I noticed that SOME container extensions let you select to "Allow in Private Windows" and SOME do NOT. I noticed specifically that "Firefox Multi-Account Containers" will not let you select to "Allow in Private Windows", and my understanding is that this is required for ANY Containers to function. Is that correct? It's a bit confusing.

I have had some sites break using the standard browser (with Containers), that will often work if I use a Private Window. Often, all that seems broken is the "Captcha"; it just doesn't appear and the form will not complete without it. However, it works in a Private Window.

I'm a little confused about which does exactly what. I don't use Google or any social media sites and I don't want any of them to have access to any of my information.

I have also encountered an ongoing problem that is very frustrating and time-consuming: When I click a link in a webpage, 10 to 30 tabs will quickly open, instead of only one, and each has to be closed separately. This happens nearly all the time. Is there a solution to this?

With Appreciation & Kind Regards, Anne Fennell

Hi everyone, I’ve encountered a strange (and possibly misleading) behavior when purchasing a Surfshark VPN subscription, and I’d like to check whether it’s a browser/session issue or how their site is designed.

Here’s what happens: I received an email from Surfshark offering me $15 off using code COMEBACK_89DYE. Clicking the link in the email opens a pricing page where the Starter plan shows €1.43/mo (Screenshot 2). If I open new tabs or windows in the same session, the lower prices stay. If I close the browser completely, reopen, and visit the pricing page directly, the prices go up to €1.99/mo for the same plan (Screenshot 3). I believed €1.43/mo was the original base price and that an extra $15 discount would be applied at checkout. However, when I completed the purchase, I was charged €1.43/mo + VAT — but no additional $15 discount was applied

What I discovered after some testing: The link from the email directly loads a “discounted view” of their pricing page, but there is no indication that the prices shown already include the $15 discount. After opening this link once, every new tab or window in the same browser shows the reduced price, even if I try searching for Surfshark normally. The only way to see the “real” original pricing is to completely close the browser (all windows) or clear cookies/local storage, then visit their site without using the email link.

Is this a known browser session/caching issue, or could this be a deliberate site design (e.g., tracking parameters & persistent cookies)? Has anyone seen similar pricing behavior with Surfshark or other sites?

Every time I open Firefox it say that it is not my default browser in Windows 7. This just started the other day after I changed my video card. I say make it my default and it says now default. Yet setting says it is not and will change to making it my default browser. I reloaded the latest 64 bit to be sure and this still happens.

Can anyone tell me how I can make Firefox my default browser permanently?

Directly underneath any open tabs I might have, there is a "pancakes" menu. It is three little, horizontal lines. Way up in the upper right of my open window. Next to it (immediate left), is a small 'puzzle piece', and then to the left of the 'puzzle piece' is a circle w/ the letter "M".

OK, back to the 'pancakes': Much of the time, when I click on the 'pancakes', I get a drop-down menu, containing a number of elements, for example, book marks, passwords, and a few other things. For some reason, without any warning (or known action by me), when I click the 'pancakes', nothing happens. It started a few days ago, and I've kept hoping that whatever is going on would stop. It does not work as of the morning of 01 August 2025. I have things in that drop-down menu that I need (or want), and cannot get to. I would like my 'pancakes' to work every time I click on it.

Thank you for any assistance you may render,

Mark H

(Oh, yeah, it is Win 11, which is a nightmare compared to Win 10. And, a six-month old computer; my daughter insisted that I get something newer, even while my old system worked great ... ).

Hello all,

Yesterday I pressed to download a file and I was immediately prompted with the message that it could have a virus, thus I haven't downloaded the file.

However, everytime I open Firefox, I get the same exact prompt (see attachment) which is kind of a nuisance. I tried clearing it several times using the "Remove from history" and I even deleted all my download cache, but it keeps showing up.

Can anyone help me remove this once and for all?
