Gmail will not load in Firefox (14.0.1) and the page displays 'Page isn't redirecting properly'. Why, and what do I do?

When I type in gmail.com the page displays 'Page isn't redirecting properly'. I know this isn't the actual URL for Gmail but it redirects in Google Chrome 20, Internet Explorer 9 and Safari... Is this Firefox 14.0.1 in general or just my browser? Firefox hasn't done this before in the same version and I scanned for malware with AVG and there wasn't anything.

version 14.0.1 this problem has only just started downloaded firefox on 27 july

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Clear Firefox's Cache

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"

2. If needed, delete your google.com cookies here

While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

FYI: I had an issue in Firefox 13 and above where the Gmail login would display the "loading" progress bar but just hang. It turned out that I had to upgrade my Firebug plugin to a later version (I was using 1.8.x) to 1.10.x. That fixed the problem and I'm now on Firefox 16.0.1 without a problem.
