I have to click links twice to open it.

On the first attempt, it doesnt matter if it is the same tab, another tab or new window, it will just try to load the exact URL where the link is. On the second attempt it will open the page instantly.

Running on DELL Inspiron 9400 - Win XP Media Center - 2bg RAM, nvidia gforce 7900go, intel core2duo

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Thx for the answer but it doesnt work in safe mode either. The only extentions i have are:

  1. Java Quick Starter 1.0
  2. Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1
  3. Testpilot 1.1

and those are all disabled while i am in normal and of course in safe mode. I really dont know what could cause this problem >.>

edit: It seems that its only affecting google search links. on other sites the links are working normal now... so it may has something to do with google...

You can try to disable them all.

Disable the Java Quick Starter extension: Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions

It looks that you have had installed a Firefox 4 beta version if you have Testpilot installed. If that is the case then you may still be on the beta update channel and you may want to switch to the release channel. The only easy way to do that is to download and install the Firefox release version and install that version over the top of the current Firefox release candidate.

You can check the pref app.update.channel on the about:config page.
If the value of that pref is beta then it is better to download and install the full Firefox 4 release or edit the file \defaults\pref\channel-prefs.js in the Firefox 4 installation folder and change the line to:

pref("app.update.channel", "release");
