Rotating screen breaks videos

Michael carter... đã trả lời
Chris

When the screen rotates, many videos freeze and thereafter all videos become unresponsive (and even some elements of the Firefox UI stop responding to taps) until the application is closed and restarted. I have experienced this problem for at least a year now. Reddit is a repeatable example: going to any feed (such as r/popular with videos), playing one, and rotating the screen.

I turned off all battery and CPU optimizations for Firefox, which improves performance on videos somewhat, but does not resolve this issue.

Hi,

While I can't reproduce this, I suggest that you file a bug report on Bugzilla, Mozilla's bug tracker, for the developers to take a look. Please remember to include your device model and Android version.

Please also feel free to share the link to your report here.

Hey Chris, yeah that sounds really frustrating. If rotating the screen causes one video to freeze and then everything else stops responding, it usually points to a rendering or hardware acceleration glitch rather than just normal lag.

Not 100% sure, but a couple things you could try:

Go into Firefox settings and disable hardware acceleration (or similar video/graphics option if available). That’s helped in some cases with video + rotation issues. Try running the same test in Firefox Nightly or Beta just to see if it’s already fixed there. Also worth clearing cache or testing in a fresh profile/reinstall, since UI becoming unresponsive suggests something deeper.

I’ve seen similar behavior on video-heavy sites like Reddit, especially after updates.
