Hello everyone, Does someone know how to install Firefox on Ubuntu Touch phone?

I did install "Ubuntu touch" on my smartphone few weeks ago.

But without my favorite Firefox Navigator, this is useless for me !

Even a older version of Firefox will be fine. All i need for now, is a Sync of my configuration (bookmarks and Passwords Manager). Firefox should have app in Openstore for Ubuntu touch phones as its opensource and promotes security.

Regards

Hi

I am sorry but Firefox is currently unavailable for that platform.

While Ubuntu Touch appears to be Linux, the Linux version of Firefox for desktop/laptops from Mozilla needs a AMD or Intel CPU as it is not made for say ARM Cortex type of CPU's. There may be some ARM builds of Firefox for Linux around, though not sure if they would even have a chance of installing and even working.

Thanks James, Not sure whether you are talking about this. Here is the link on Gitlab I used to install firefox on my Ubuntu touch phone. Would have been great If folks around have found package on Firefox site.

Thanks M

That is third-party builds so Mozilla would not host those.

There are a few Bugs around tracking progress on things like ARM64 builds and Firefox for mobile Linux phones.

Bug 1579348 [meta] Firefox for Librem 5, PinePhone & other Linux phones support tracker Bug 1677963 add regular Linux ARM64 in the CI

Note Bugzilla is not a discussion forum like here so please only post helpful comments if you comment in Buzgilla as "I get this too" .. "I need this" etc is considered pointless spam. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=etiquette.html

that is not a third party build, in fact all the CI on that repo really does is download the arm64/armhf deb package from the official Ubuntu Repositories, extract it and repackage it as a "click" package (the package format Ubuntu Touch natively supports) the source code is never touch, or is anything really build.

At most the desktop file is amended to point to the correct icon and to launch in an embedded x server.

so the "linux version" of firefox works "fine" on ubuntu touch however because it is repackaging the 16.04 version is running on xorg at this moment, Ubuntu Touch is natively wayland, i'm also following https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1677963 for this reason. I would like to try packaging a newer version of firefox to see how well we can make it run. can i assume that bug tracker is related to the answer i'm looking for in https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/arm64-armhf-firefox-binary-tarballs-for-packaging-for-ubuntu/td-p/4797?
