The Bookmark menu used to open with ONE click. Now it assumes you're using the same bookmark, and if you want a different one, you have to click twice. I have many bookmark categories, and I usually have to click twice to get to the menu to choose a folder/location.

I looked for but couldn't find an OPTION for it to work as it used to, open with one click. I'm disappointed that I couldn't find this option. I hope the option to return to the way it used to work will be available in the next Firefox update.

The star at the at the right end of the location bar is used to bookmark the current tab. Current Firefox releases remember the last used folder if that is what you mean.

The "Edit This Bookmark" dialog that opens if you click the highlighted star has a checkbox with "Show editor when saving" (shortcut key in the dialog is Alt+S). This item is at the bottom just above "Remove Bookmark" and "Done". You can click the highlighted star a second time to open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog.

See "How do I change the name or location of a bookmark?"

The Bookmarks Menu button I mentioned above looks like a star on a tray Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) and can be used to inspect all bookmarks and you can drag a tab to this button and drop it in a specific folder and position to bookmark this tab. You can do the same in the sidebar.

You can drag the Bookmarks Menu button that shows the bookmarks in a drop-down list from the Customize palette to the Navigation Toolbar. This Bookmarks Menu button has a "View bookmarks sidebar" menu item.

If you mean the "STAR" icon which turns blue when you click on it to make a Bookmark -- I already have that. It's what I'm referring to. If I click it once, it makes a Bookmark which is the same as the previous Bookmark. If I want/need another bookmark, I have to click the Blue Star a second time in order to select another "location."

The only other Bookmark to choose from is "Bookmarks, Toolbar items." That's something different, and adding it messed up my entire toolbar. (I removed it.)

I just want the Star function like it used to be -- opening up the location list with one click. At least an option to select how I want the Star to function.
