Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What is/are the exact error message(s) ?

Trying to open the web using firefox, a blocking message came up saying something like this as I don't remember the exact words, "file so and so can't be opened, tab ok or delete". I tried to delete, but couldn't, the same message just reappeared every time. I restarted, same result; I turned off the laptop and started again, same result and message. So I uninstalled and reinstalled w/all my web files/pages gone, no history. How can I get them back? Ref. 1st message. tmr

Your bot is not very smart as I can't give you a screen shot as firefox was uninstalled in the end before reinstalled, this should be evident. Work with what I've sent you, and give your bot a rest, your algoritm can't solve this, only a real person. Get real, please. tmr

Usually an uninstall/reinstall doesn't delete your data, but perhaps it offered an option to do that.

If you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

If Firefox again starts up without your data, could you check whether your stuff is available in a different profile, as follows:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Do you have any other profile(s) listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Thanks, that worked, I got my browser files back. I just have to find out how it will stick when opening firefox after closing down and reopening. I'll play around with it and let you know if I don't fix it. I don't have the button "Launch profile in new browser button", just "open" beside the root directory and local directory which I do. tmr

Glad to hear all is well now -- if I'm reading your replies correctly.

Once you have set the default profile, you shouldn't need to use the about:profiles page again. If it's not sticking, hmm, let us know.
