I'm having a problem that appears to be linked to syncing. I can clear it with "Refresh Firefox...", but then it will come back in about 2-3 days. It will manifest itself in a few ways:

  • Facebook feed stops or is blank after about 2 or 3 entries.
  • Pandora won't start, it freezes on the initial opening page.
  • Facebook Marketplace won't display large pictures, they are blurred out.
  • If I try to log into my Firefox account, it tells me that cookies and local storage are disabled. When this happens if I delete all cookies or add exceptions, the issue remains the same and I can't login to my account.
  • Some Yahoo news feeds won't display any pictures.

I've investigated it and reviewed many of the messages about pictures being blurred or not showing, but not finding anything about the problem continually repeating. I have used "Refresh Firefox" about 10 times now, and the issue still comes back.

When it does, other things I've tried are:

  • Added in cookie exceptions for each website above.
  • Turned off Enhanced Tracking Protection for each website above.
  • Cleared all cookies manually.
  • In my Firefox account, I have deleted and re-added all my devices. Would it be helpful to completely delete my account? The issues only occur with one device, my PC desktop machine.

Any assistance is graciously requested, but this is becoming awfully perturbing. I'd love to give you screenshots or logs when this happens, but I can't even log into the forum, but let me know what I need to capture for next time! Thanks!

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I have tried all of FredMcD's suggestions but it has made no difference. I'm now trying turning off Sync to see if this helps. Given this occurs after about 1-2 days time, it leads me to believe this is some type of sync problem. I have not synced in 3 days. I guess the next step after that will be to delete my Mozilla account or start a new one?

Thanks.

With syncing left signed out (essentially turning it off), I have run my desktop for almost 3 more days now. All seems to work okay, just without syncing passwords or other items. Pandora has not frozen, I can log into the forums without getting an error message that 'Cookies are disabled', I haven't had to turn off or modify ETP, Facebook Marketplace pictures have been displaying so far, so this pretty much appears to be a syncing problem. Let me know how to proceed; shall I delete my account, capture other info, provide logs?

One other thing I do now recollect is that my Android phone was on beta channel for a while, so maybe that introduced some bug?

Thanks.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Cool! I'll try to check this tonight my time :) I haven't seen anything corrupted in my profile so far, so not sure of what I should be looking for; regardless, will try this tonight.

Thanks!

Hi Cor-el

Long time no see. My problem seems to have re-appeared. As you suggested, I created a new profile. As a precaution, I left syncing from the offending desktop PC turned off for about 3 months (didn't realize it was off that long!), and I didn't have a single problem in that time. I turned syncing back on a few days ago and the problem reappears. The odd part too, is that my profile says my PC is NOT connected, see attached. What shall we attempt next? You need logs when it happens again?

Hi

This problem still occurs, this time it took about 3 weeks before it reoccurred. Shall I try to delete my profile again? Are there any logs I can collect?

Thanks.
