FR: Focus last viewed tab after closing a tab

When I close a tab, by default Firefox selects the next tab on the right or the one on the left if the closed tab was the right-most tab. There is an option in about:config

browser.tabs.selectOwnerOnClose

When this option is set to True, firefox will focus the owner.

Neither of these two behaviours is particularly useful. I want Firefox to select the last vieved tab, not the parent, and not the one to the left/right. Currently I'm using add-on Select after closing current which does exactly what I want, however previous versions of Firefox could do this out of the box, and so can Chrome. I think most users would find it useful if this was the default behaviour, thanks!
