None of the tips I have followed have done more than solve the problem for current session. This issue only arose with a recent Windows update and it is very annoying, especially the Bing search engine, not as good as Google and not so easy to change. Windows updated except for Feature update 20H2

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; (<Control> [Mac=<Command>] <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Bing “ Anything.

Also remove SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch, Findwide Search Engine, securedsearch

Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Am not quite sure what solved the problem but it has gone away after I reset again and set default home page and search engine and ran two malware searches. Thanks for all the help.
