Viewing a national newspaper site today, Firefox popped up an odd message Continue to installation of Flash player. It then loads (tries) https://performintenselyquickapplication.icu and an ID string. I think I can run Flash already on my browser so why do I have to do this?

The URL worries me, it may be genuine but would like confirmation it is. As mentioned I can already see/use Flash so why the message?

Search for https://performintenselyquickapplication.icu returns nothing other than an Alexa position. Thanks in advance. McP/

Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated;

DO NOT USE ANY OF PROVIDED LINKS

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Anytime you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the website of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to https://www.mozilla.org

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Thanks Fred, as mentioned I KNEW I had flash installed. The annoying part was that each time I opened a tab. I got the install message, and despite shutting the browser, if I re-opened and loaded a new tab, the same happened. I then noticed ( another open browser instance) had a zillion tabs open on it and more opening all the time! Alt F4 killed it. Will do more checks on the national paper site that seemed to trigger this.

Curiously I have had this happen before - a long time ago, where a browser just kept popping tabs open and only F4 stopped it. Thank you for the response.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad blocker.
