a downloaded file named "list.pdf" loses its extension
When a sender (Chase.Com) sends me a PDF named "List" something (mysterious) decides to delete the extension!
I can fix it by copying the file elsewhere & then renaming it by adding the missing ".PDF" - so I DO have a work-around.
However, what's the underlying cause?
The problem started occurring about 2 months ago.

That means it's not a pdf or the security software is causing the problem.

OK, I'm on Chase.Com looking to download statements. When I go to download a statement, it gives me a clickable icon below a label "Open or save."
Oops! I see now that it gives me two icons very close together (that I took as one) one a printed page & the other a down arrow. Clicking on the down arrow does as expected ... so my problem is solved!

However, clicking on the printed page icon causes a new blank window to open (which is what I was reporting). It is supposed display the document, but it doesn't. It's possibly JavaScript which I think you guys no longer support ... which would address that situation.

I seen on some sites where it shows pdf but when saved isn't a pdf file but is a pdf. I think it has something to do with how the site formats the file.

No, JS (JavaScript) is different from Java. JS is everywhere. Java is no longer 'officially' supported.
Next time I'll check the PDF links when I go to the www.Chase.com site.
