Cant create bookamrks. All old bookmarks disappeared
I am a financial supporter of the Mozilla foundation.
Upon opening firefox this morning - all my bookmarks were missing.
Worse - he bookmark function also failed to add any new bookmarks.
I tried to reinstall the backup file . Said it was unable to 'process' the file.
I then descended into vortex of hello. all sorts of pages giving all sorts of barely comprehensible instructions. EG: importing old back up file into html and then loading it . Dint work.
Despairing of my saturday afternoon, i then tried (twice) to remove firefox entirely from my system. Shredded old firefox records, clealned registry etc.
Every time firefox loaded it noted that a previous version had been installed. BUT - same problems. Would create new bookmarks.
Im runnig Brave right now.
I am happy to lose my old bookmarks. I can recreate them
Can you help with a new version of Firefox that will allow me to crate bookmarks.
However - I'm no technical expert. I'm looking for a simple 3 step process.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

[v57+] Places Maintenance is built into Firefox.
Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.
You will find Places Database near the bottom. Press the Verify Integrity button.
When done, copy and post the results here.
Hi Cromwell1649, are you seeing the error message described in this article and do any of the suggestions there help:
Fix "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message
If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
