What is the error message that you get?
Also, what did you drag out? Was it an entire folder from:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
or was it something more specific?

Try this:
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, click the "Open Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Exit
- (menu bar) File > Exit
In Windows Explorer, click the word "Firefox" in the address bar. This should show you a folder with these contents:
- Profiles (folder)
- Profiles.ini (configuration settings file)
- Crash Reports (folder -- if you've ever reported a crash)
- possibly other things
Right-click Profiles.ini and rename it to ProfilesOLD.ini then click away to save the change.
When Firefox starts up, it should discover both of the current profile folders and ask you which one you want to use.
Now that will let you switch between them, but you probably still want to use the new one. You'll need to do some selective file copying. What are your priorities?
