Firefox does not save my imported bookmarks from IE. Every time i restart Firefox, I have to re-import them and re-log on.

Hi, that is strange - I assume other bookmarks in Firefox are OK? Try dragging a couple out of the imported IE folder as a test to see if they are retained; if so, you could do that with the rest then right click > delete the empty folder - depending on how many you have!

You may also - within IE, be able to export to an HTML file; save it to your PC, then open Firefox bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

All my bookmarks are lost (IE an FireFox) every time I close out Firefox. I have to Import, log on with e-mail/password, and then sync if i choose to sync. All my preferences are lost and I have to do this every time just to start a Firefox session.

OK, that's completely different. You may have a corrupt places.sqlite file. That and other things to check is in - Can't add, change or save bookmarks - How to fix

This is possibly a problem with the profiles.ini file that stores data about registered profiles. There can also be a problem with permissions/ownership of involved folders/files preventing access. Locate the profiles.ini file and delete this file or use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.

See:

You can delete the profiles.ini file to make Firefox create a new (default) profile or use the Profile Manager to create a new profile or register an orphaned profile.

You can find the profiles.ini file in this hidden location:

  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
  • Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/

If deleting the profiles.ini file isn't working then also check the location of the cache files.

  • Windows: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
  • Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/
  • Linux:~/.cache/mozilla/firefox/

You can also try to rename/delete the Mozilla\Firefox\ folder in both above mentioned locations (main, cache).
