For some reason, Firefox has decided to show user names instead of entering the passwords for numerous sites. I'm using 54.0.1 on Win10 as well as on Win7Pro. Same problem on both.

Is this happening on secure HTTPS websites or (only) on HTTP websites?

Can you fill the password via the right-click context menu?

See also these auto-fill prefs on the about:config page:

  • signon.autofillForms
  • signon.autofillForms.http

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

The signon.autofillForms.http was set to false. The problem exists on https sites, such as yahoo.

It appears there's something funky about my laptop running Win10. And it's only Yahoo that bungs up. I guess I'll completely whack FF clean everything and then reinstall.

Note that Firefox may show a list of user names with a key symbol to choose from if you click the password field and Firefox isn't able to detect what user name is used (might have been entered on a different page). You can click the correct use name in the drop-down list to make Firefox fill the correct password.
