There used to be a popup which asked if I wanted to save my sign in info(user and password) if I wanted . This is no longer popping up. Is there an ad on or something to get this function back. I'm running Win 8.1 on an Acer Switch and updated FF today(7-25) to the recommended update. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm, I think the Firefox password manager is turned on by default. Please see these articles to check your settings:

Note that some sites use scripting techniques to break the connection between the username and password fields. Firefox might not be able to save or fill passwords for those sites -- it might not even recognize that it's a login situation.

Hi jweigh, Sorry you are having problems. This is probably something you have accidentally changed rather than a Firefox change.

You should get that still, assuming you have not already saved the password and username for a site. However that will not happen if you are in a private browsing Window, or if you are effectively permanently in private browsing by telling Firefox not to save History. Also you may add exceptions so that Firefox does not repeatedly ask for a site's password to be saved if you do not wan it to.

Have a look at

A quick method at looking at your saved passwords and any exceptions is to type in to the addressbar

about:preferences#security

There you are able to view and edit saved logins, and view and edit the list of sites in exceptions.

Possibly also of interest

You may also wish to use a private browsing Window whenever using financial etc sites, that will then not save cookies or logins etc.

Totally off topic for this forum but just a quick note that the free offer to update to Windows 10 expires at the end of this month, as a Windows 8.1 user it may be something you would be interested in you only have a few days to decide and act.
