When there is a live stream on Facebook, I cannot view it using Firefox, though I can hear it fine. I do not have any add-on's installed. I can see it fine in Internet Explorer and have reinstalled Adobe Flash just to see and still nothing.

I can say that if the Flash context menu doesn't come up on a live video (vs. a prerecorded, formerly live video), Flash didn't load. Do you ever get the error message in the attached screenshot?

It's hard to understand why Flash would work on one part of facebook.com and not another part. But it might be difficult to tell when FB is using Flash vs. HTML5 (other than from the context menu).

No, Flash always loads. There is never an error message. It only happens with live streaming.

Hi holz75, I wish I knew what was different between our systems or our Firefox configurations. It's very frustrating when things just don't work for no apparent reason.

To test whether it might be one of my add-ons making it work, I tried the new profile test, and it worked on the new profile, too. I don't know whether you want to try this as well:

New Profile Test

This takes about 3 minutes, plus any time you spend watching videos...

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

Click the Create a New Profile button. Assign a name like Aug2016, and skip the option to relocate the profile folder.

After creating the profile, scroll down to it and click the Set as default profile button below that profile, then scroll back up and click the Restart normally button.

Firefox should exit and then start up using the new profile folder, which will just look brand new.

If you then proceed to facebook.com/livemap does video work any better?

When you are done with the experiment, open the about:profiles page again, click Set as default for your regular profile, then click Restart normally to get back to it.

Finally! A fix!!! I asked on reddit about this and someone made the following suggestion. It worked for me. Basically you have to delete Flash from your computer using the tool completely. Reboot to reset the registry. The install Flash again.

Hope it works for you guys.

If you are using Flash on Windows:

Use the Flash uninstall tool

Restart your computer. (Important, this releases registry handles.)

Reinstall Flash Here

You know it's funny... I had tried this exact same thing, and it would work the first time I tried it. Although as soon as I closed Firefox and reopened it, it would stop working. For some reason though, IT'S STILL WORKING! Let's see how long it lasts.  :-)
