Usually the print icon appears on the graphical application menu, which you access using the "3-bar" menu button.
If yours is not there, could you look around for it using the Customize feature? This article has the steps to get you started: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.
If the printer icon is nowhere to be found, you can undo all existing toolbar customizations using the "Restore defaults" button at the bottom of the Customize tab.
Does any of that help?
Hmm, by the way, you sometimes get a popup window with a partial toolbar, showing just the page address. In that case, it's easiest to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+p to call up the print dialog.
Alternately, there are add-ons which add printing to the right-click context menu.

Universal Print is interesting. You can select several tabs in the current window to print together. Using a virtual PDF printer driver like PDFCreator (http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator), you can capture and merge the jobs into a single PDF. Hmm... this combination has potential.
