hello fredricklivigni, multiple other affected users have reported that this was an issue caused by malware on their pc. please run a scan of your system with adwcleaner and the free version of malwarebytes.

Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

I tried checking for malware and still the problem persists. I must move my mouse to play videos or even load web pages. Didn't have the problem until the newest 33.0.2 release.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

• Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance

I have the same issue when in Firefox Safe Mode.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I tried this and it screwed my firefox up. This is not a malware problem, it is a new version problem with firefox. I did not have this problem with earlier versions.

in most cases it seems to manifest itself in firefox 33 (which contains some changes in rendering), but this issue appears to be triggered by external factors on the system. can you try to boot windows into safe mode with networking enabled by pressing F8 while the PC is starting, like described at https://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true and see if the issue is reproducible in there as well?
