Can you stop bookmarked sites from appearing in the navagation toolbar?

I hate the fact the I can't figure out how to stop websites from constantly appearing in my navigation toolbar. I figured out how to delete these items, but they reappear each time I open my browser. Help!

You can change the settings to make the location bar to display only history at the bottom of the Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track
