Why is 'Restricted website blocked https://www.dwin1.com/3691.js Category: Made for AdSense' stopping me use safe sites like Waitrose.com?

When shopping on-line using Firefox I often get stopped with the message above. If I use IE to perform the same operation I do not get blocked. In both cases Trend is running.

That seems strange to me, because all browsers should be subject to the same restrictions going to the same sites.

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any change?

Thanks This worked, but, no bookmarks, so, I'd not wish to use Firefox in safe mode everytime this happened. Any clues as to what add-on or other feature is causing this?

Safe Mode should have all your bookmarks, I don't understand why they aren't there. Or do you mean bookmarks from an add-on like the Yahoo toolbar? Yes, those are not available in Safe Mode.

Could you "minimize" your extensions by disabling everything you do not plan to use in the next 24 hours? Sometimes extensions accumulate or are snuck in that are not really essential. If we can determine that the essential extensions work well with the site, we can review the others to see whether any are suspect and/or can be removed.

Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, if in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that help?

Ordninary bookmarks - menu is there, all mine are not Anyway, looked at extensions, disabled the Trend Micro one and the problem goes, but, I am then vulnerable to malicious web sites etc. So a workaround is to enable disable this extension as need arises. I am guessing time to move this discussion to Trend Micro, the issue seems to be the interface between the two, as, this probem does not arise between IE and Trend? Thanks for your help
