Why Can't I get videos, music games when I got them before?

dmitrirex

I have Flash Drive and everything was working fine until a few months ago to where I can no longer pull up music, videos, games. Did Firefox install something that messes these up and how can I get rid of it? I can get everything OK on Internet Explorer but I prefer Firefox.

Can you explain what you are trying to do, means how you are pulling games and musing in firefox?

Whenever my grandkids try to play a game, it does not work. Whenever I try to go to ITunes, watch videos friends send me or at different sites, they do not show up. If I want to listen to music cues or music, it does not play. They were all working OK a few months ago on Firefox but not now. Since they work on Internet Explorer, it has to be a problem with Firefox.

I note from system information aside that you use RealPlayer software, and have FlashPlayer 11.3

Short answer
It is probably a FlashPlayer 11.3 problem

  1. check you have the very latest RealPlayer software installed
  2. if you still have problems
    • uninstall Flash 11.3
    • install Flash 10.3 (or 11.2)
    • see full instructions in flash 11.3 crashes
    • you may then need to recheck the Internet Explorer installation, and maybe even RealPlayer because of unintended consequences of the adobe uninstaller.
    • although this is a temporary workaround upgrading FlashPlayer should not them be considered until a proper fix is available

Note
Flash player 11.3 causes problems with Firefox. Also note this is different software from that used on Internet Explorer. Some RealPlayer software also had major problems and would not work with flash and could cause problems with Flash. Developers from Flash Firefox and Realplayer have been working on these problems for weeks. We still hope for an eventual fix from Adobe FlashPlayer.

The official advice with links to some of the background & technical information is:

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox 13 are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.

In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:

Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems

Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again

Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox

Please tell us if this helped!

P.S.

Some of these problems are due to FlashPlayer using protected mode it is possible to change that as a setting, but it is usually taken care of by the installer used.(So in some instances which Flash installer was used could be important, not just the version in use)

I uninstalled Flashplayer 11.3. I went to the site for older versions of Flashplayer and it gave me all kinds of options for 11.2 and 10.3. Although I wasn't sure which one to use, when I tried to download one, it only gave Internet Explorer as the Default and said nothing about Firefox.

Could you send me the link for the correct download that will be good for everybody including Firefox?

Thanks.

My Windows 7 is working ok on 11.3 last time I used it but the suggested link to download 10.3 from the KB is http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_10_plugin.exe

I would hope that is the correct link, although I am aware FlashPlayer may have changed links over the last few weeks.

That worked!!!! Thanks. So nice to have everything back on Firefox. Guess Best Buy is off the hook. Thought they messed something up when they hooked up my WiFi.

So, if Firefox suggests that I upgrade to 11.3, how will I know that it will not mess everything up again?

At present upgrading is likely to be a problem, but if you use

The temporary Firefox help articles will probably be updated or archived once the problem is fixed properly, meanwhile be carefully what advice you follow.

You may find advice on the Mozillazine site is more likely to be kept properly updated than the official Firefox support.mozilla.org
