Why did I receive an email saying my Mozilla account would be closed in 7 days unless I signed in?
I received an email that said my account would be closed in 7 days unless I signed in.
I leave my Mozilla tabs permanently open and use them every day. I tried to sign in as instructed and got an "unknown error" about 3 times. Then I was sent to a page talking about Windows 10. I have the extension; that's not a problem for me.
Closing Mozilla and possibly losing all those open tabs would be a BIG problem. Evidently I'm signed in now. I hope everything is OK with my Mozilla account.

It is possible to use the Mozilla Firefox web browsers without using a Mozilla Account for anything. If the email was about the Mozilla Account you are using to post this thread then you should be fine now as it will be considered logged in and active. If you do not log into a Mozilla Account for two plus years then it may be deactivated due to being inactive.
