I have a new laptop with windows 8. Why do I lose my homepage when I shutdown?

The laptop is not a touchscreen. If I put the laptop to sleep my homepage stays. I only lose it when I shutdown.

There are some programs that can undo your changes in Firefox. These often have a name similar to Surfing Protection, Browser Protection, Home Page Protection, and so on. Advanced SystemCare is one of the ones other users have identified as rolling back settings changes, but you might have a different one. There also is one called SearchProtect/Search Protection which may indicate that you installed a free software bundle containing some malware.
