For the last several weeks, EVERY time I use Firefox on my android(samsung) phone, I get a popup message "What do you think about Firefox" with choice of I'm having issues, or It's great. picking one it wants me to rate Firefox on the Google Play Store. but selecting the like does not take to a place on the Google Play store. and this happens every time. Does anyone know where this message originates from and how I can turn it off?

Hi Richard,

Sorry for that. That's definitely not intended, and this prompt will be completely disabled in the next Firefox release next week.

Meanwhile, the developers are still investigating why this prompt is popping up so frequently for some users like you. There are several reports, but they haven't managed to nail down the circumstances yet. By any chance, would you be willing to connect with one of Mozilla's Android engineers to try to diagnose what's going on?

Thank you very much! I've contacted the engineers, and here's what they hope will help them understand how Firefox ends up in a state where the issue reproduces:

  1. Did you see any Crash Reporter dialogs? If so, did you reply to send crash reports or not?
  2. Did Firefox crash at any point during use?
  3. What amount of storage is Firefox using? Usually, you can find it in (device) Settings -> Apps -> All apps / Manage apps / etc. -> Firefox -> Storage.
  4. What is the amount of total storage available on your device? I guess you can find it in (device) Settings -> About device / About phone, or in (device) Settings -> Storage / Memory.
  5. Are you running a rooted device? A rooted device is one where you have gained administrative (root) permissions not available by default.
  6. What is your device manufacturer and make? This info should be in (device) Settings -> About device / About phone.
  7. Is your device running the OS that came with this device?
  8. Roughly how many tabs do you have open?
  9. If by any chance you have a video of the review prompt appearing from the app load, it could also be helpful (but if you don't, please never mind).

PS Meanwhile, the review prompt should be disabled with the latest 146.0.1 update.
