what do i do?
when i do a search i get several sites to choose from. then when i chose one i am taken to a new site not associated with what i chose. mostly sales, so i hit the back button, twice, to get back to my search then i can access the site i want! thanks.

I assume you have some sort of malware, adware or search helper, possibly installed unintentionally.
- see Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page
- Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware
- if you do suspect malware this /questions/914980#answer-302372 is a good example of the steps to take
I note you have BrowserPlus installed, is there any possibility that is part of your problem.
thanks for your advice, John. resetting Firefox was helpful. and seems to have solved my problems.
Thanks for posting back. Glad you have Firefox working again & I hope it is not too much trouble getting things back to normal after using the reset.
- note reset does remove extensions and other things Reset Firefox preferences to troubleshoot and fix problems
