Your spell-check sucks
I typed in the word "Orca" today and it told me I spelled it wrong. Since when? It's telling me right now Orca is spelled wrong. I have to add all sorts of things to the dictionary but it will just put them back at a later date and I have to go through it again. It sucks. Can someone update it with a current version of the English language?

Firefox uses the Hunspell library, another open source project, for spell checking.
I'm not sure why new words you add to the dictionary would disappear. Have you noticed any pattern to it?
If you don't already back up your computer regularly, you might want to at least back up your current Firefox settings folder (Firefox profile folder). Your custom dictionary file is stored there (persdict.dat), along with crucial data such as bookmarks.
See the following article for more information: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Is there any reason why Orca wouldn't be in the dictionary by default? It's not like it's a new word.
