URLs still displaying as "visited" in search results after clearing History?

Web sites are still appearing as "visited" (i.e. purple rather than blue) links in my Google search results even after I've cleared the browser history. Why is this? I have Firefox 4.0 for Mac.

This can be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
