pop ups and junk ad tabs open while using the browser
in the last week or so anytime I click on a page a new tab will open with junk ads or a popup will come up on the screen and block content. They can be closed and deleted but it happens continually no matter what settings I have or preferences set. I have pop up blocker toggled in the settings and I have a Mozilla ad blocker but it is not working. Please help! this is really annoying!

Hi Cheri,
When you say you have a Mozilla ad blocker, can you explain what do you mean by that?
Hi Kiki I mean that I have the standard level of protection set in the preferences and I have the block pop ups checked as well. I also have the Privacy Badger and the Browsing safely plug ins/add ons as recommended by Firefox/Mozilla.
Whenever I click on a page it opens another junk tab. Easily deleted but annoying. this just started happening about 2 weeks ago or so. thanks,
That usually happens to me when I access a seriously ads heavy site. Just to be clear, are you experiencing this just on a certain website?
it doesn't matter where I'm using or what site its on, it happens on every site. If not a full on extra window/tab ad opening then some other banner will appear over text. This is new (within the last month) and has never happened before. This is one of the reasons I use Firefox was to control ads & popup windows/tabs but if this continues I'm going to have to switch to Chrome or some other browser as its is ENDLESSLY ANNOYING.
It appears that each popup is governed and geared to have a timed popup to generate another different advertisement. Hmmmm These popups began about May/June months and are very annoying. My wife is very annoyed and angering. I've reviewed Firefox's setup about ads with NO way to control these ads. I have also did system scanning almost daily to find a solution, haven't found this annoying peace of this hacking. I've wondered if MS operating system has something to do about these ads? It's too perfectly done with sales pitching and with valid ads?
See Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware for general info about browser hijacking techniques used by various malware.
To verify if it's perhaps caused by a rogue addon see Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox how to restart into a more conservative configuration to verify the issue persists.
